Part of my job as Creative Director is to enhance our Bible Studies/Devotionals … all the things we provide for helping you engage with Visual Faith© materials, with things that help keep you in the moment with the Lord. For many of you, having something to create enhances your time with God and keeps you in His word.
Â

The title, Tapestry: Women in the Gospels. It is God who wove this all together, as He so frequently does for us at VFM. All seemingly unrelated things (authors, artwork, ephemera package, as well as artwork from other creative people): ALL of it has been woven together and seems like a gift from God. It’s amazing to see, then to take a step back and realize that God chose all these things. He’s the one who brought all of us together months before we even truly understood what He was doing with us, not even realizing some of the connections, putting those thoughts in either the writer’s mind or the artist’s mind, and then seeing the final product was an amazing miracle to witness.
Â

What I realized is that He had His hands involved in every step. He knew that this was going to be called Tapestry, and He knew that the ephemera was going to be images of weaving, fabrics, and textures. He knew that Sally Beck was going to create mixed media, full color drawings which included fabric as the focal point for each piece of art ... that is uniquely beautiful. Most of the artwork we have in our shoppe from Sally has been done in black and white.Â

This time, she went beyond what we asked and created something amazing. God knew that the extra artwork from Pat Maier would bring an additional depth of understanding for us of the tassels on a tzitzit (you’ll have to participate in the study if you want to know what that word means!), and the beauty of Kintsugi (another word you can learn about from this study), digging deeper into the Word.
Â
God also knew the writers would weave together and become a cohesive group. The best part is that the title of the overall tapestry is like God’s gift to us all. He is the One who put these thoughts into the minds of all these different people who worked on this project. A tapestry is a woven piece of artwork that tells a story through its imagery. It is our prayer that our tapestry journal and the ephemera package will tell the story of God’s faithfulness through these women in the Gospels. As He weaves you into the story now, as students of His word, may it all be for His glory.
